As we recently learned, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Coldplay[/lastfm]‘s upcoming new album will be titled Mylo Xyloto and will feature a snazzy cover that features a collage of, among other things, cloudy puffs of vibrant colors and an assortment of psychedelic graffiti. We don’t know what it means, but it sure is eye-catching.
The new album comes out October 24, and according to Coldplay’s website, it is “produced by Markus Dravs, Daniel Green and Rik Simpson with enoxification and additional composition by [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Brian Eno[/lastfm].”
There is no official track listing as of now, but we do know that it will be released on CD, digital, vinyl and as a limited edition pop-up album (!)–which, again according to the band’s website, includes “a 12 x 12 hardback book containing graffiti pop-up art designed by David A. Carter.”
Note that the cover art is not only an eye-catcher, but is reversible.
More details are sure to come out soon, and they announced that their next single, “Paradise,” will come out September 12.
Coldplay will then play a free Live on Letterman online concert Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 8pm EST (5pm PST), live from the famed Ed Sullivan Theater in New York.
In the meantime, you can watch Coldplay’s video for the single “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall”:
Next is another new song off Mylo Xyloto, “Charlie Brown,” performed during this year’s Lollapalooza.
And finally, if you need yet another hit, here’s Coldplay performing their classic hit “Fix You,” again at this year’s Lollapalooza.
