Abermarle’s favorite daughter, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kellie Pickler[/lastfm], is coming back for a couple of charity events.   Catch Kellie at the Nicholas Sparks Foundation’s Celebrity Family Weekend in New Bern on Sunday.

Kellie’s in the midst of her ‘100 Proof’ U.S. tour.

WCNC.com caught up with her and asked about her ‘homecoming’ dates.  Her reply:  “Yeah, I get so excited and I get a little nervous, too, when I perform back home. Albemarle’s still gonna be home; my family still lives there, most of them. … I always want my show to be a little bit better than the last time I was there. And it’s great because those are the shows that my Grandpa Pickler (Clyde Pickler Sr.) is able to come to, because he can’t travel a lot. He’s getting older.

She goes on to say  ” My Grandpa Pickler taught me my very first country song, and that was [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Hank (Williams) Sr.[/lastfm]‘s “My Bucket’s Got a Hole In It.” I love that classic sound.”

Catch some of that ‘classic sound’ at her show(s) this weekend.
