We have 10 – count ‘em – 10 – National Parks here in North Carolina alone, though admission is free at all National Parks and National Monuments throughout the country through this Sunday, April 29th…it’s the tail end of ‘National Park Week.‘ Why not take a ride, and explore this weekend? The weather’s going to be great!
From Yosemite to Shenandoah, our National Parks and other Park Service units are welcoming visitors for free admission, and special events throughout the week.
In Greensboro, we have the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park, where one of the toughest inland battles of the Revolutionary War took place here in the south.

Near Asheville and points up and down the Blue Ridge, enjoy the Blue Ridge Parkway.
North of Spartanburg, SC, take in the Cowpens National Battlefield, where another historic Revolutionary War battlefield took place.
There’s the Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site, Carl, the ‘Poet of the People‘ was born near Flat Rock, NC, near the NC/SC border at the foot of the Blue Ridge.
Admission to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is also free this weekend, and head east, outside of Wilmington to the Moores Creek National Battlefield or the Wright Brothers National Memorial at Kitty Hawk.
