Do you have a gently used ‘formal’ or dressy dress or prom dress that you can donate?  It’ll help make a dream come true, make a young girl feel like a princess!

An ‘Evening of Believing’ prom is specifically for 13-21 year old children, teens and young adults who have cancer or life altering illnesses and their escorts. In total, about 250 attendees are expected for the big night at Founders Hall on September 28th.  It’s all put together by the good folks at The Sandbox, here in Charlotte.

Here’s what’s needed: formal dresses for 7-12 year old girls, new or gently loved formal shoes (flats and heels) and new or gently loved purses. Ideally, these items would need to be received by August 10th as the first ‘Try-On Day’ is August 11th. (Try-On Day is where the young ladies will pick out and get fitted for their dream dresses, purses, shoes and jewelry – The young men will get fitted for their tuxedos, which are provided by Men’s Wearhouse.)

If you’re able to donate, the most centralized drop-off location we have is Christ Lutheran Church of Charlotte (4545 Providence Road).

Time is of the essence – again, these items would need to be received by August 10th!

Check this out:  All facets of this prom come at no cost to our honorees due to the generosity of our community and businesses – Dresses, purses, etc., are donated. The day of the prom, all prom-goers, or ‘honorees,’ meet at the Aveda Institute of Charlotte to get their hair and make-up done gratuitously. They are then escorted to Founders Hall by limo, led by the Hometown Heroes, CMPD and the Sheriff’s Department. At the prom, they enjoy a full buffet dinner and spend their evening dancing, hanging out with their friends and enjoying their special evening being treated like the rock stars they truly are!
