Who cares that beautiful downtown Cramerton is really only a block-and-a-half long – this little town has big time Christmas spirit!
Brenda Matthews, here, and my hubby and I discovered Cramerton on our motorcycle. If you head into the Gastonia area on New Hope Road, you’ll make a right turn and head north on Cramer Mountain Road, and you’ll feel, for a minute or two, anyway, that you’re in the Carolina mountains! The road into town is twisty and hilly, then, once you go through the tunnel it becomes 8th street. Make a quick left on Center Street – and you’re downtown! Don’t blink, as they say!
The locals are excited this week, as Thursday, December 6th, marks their ‘Annual Christmas Festival‘ beginning at 2pm in the Town Center at the corner of Eighth and Center Street. Join in on the fun! Load up the kids, and grandma and grandpa and the neighbors – there’s fun for the whole family scheduled, with food vendors selling hot cocoa, live music, and various other activities.
The Christmas Parade kicks off at 4:00pm.
Directly following the Christmas Parade, the town sponsors the ‘Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony’ in the Town Center, which will stay lit all season!
Per Cramerton.org, “The parade will begin 4:00pm from the Cramer Market Place Shopping Center and will then take Eighth Avenue and end at North Main Street. Market Street, Eighth Avenue, and all side streets will close at 3:40pm and will not reopen until the conclusion of the parade. NO TRAFFIC WILL BE ALLOWED ONTO THE PARADE ROUTE AFTER 3:40pm FOR ANY REASON. Please make arrangements to take alternate routes on parade day.
