I was reminded when I phoned, that Derby Day is Saturday, so there are specials all weekend long at Paco’s! Expect special pricing in Mint Juleps on Saturday, and Sunday, for the holiday, not only will Paco’s be roasting a ‘full pig’ inside, they’ll be serving $5 Margaritas with $8 Top Shelf and specials on Mexican beer, too! You can enjoy the party inside Paco’s or right next door (ok, behind) at the Beer Garden on the Marriott Patio with live music and the previous drinks specials!

And the ‘Granddaddy’ of them all:
The 6th Annual Fanta Festival, the area’s largest Cinco de Mayo Festival in the Charlotte area, is happening on Sunday from 11a-7pm. Meet fellow families and partiers at McAlpine Park (8711 Monroe Road, Matthews, NC), for all of the fun! Said fun includes lots of Mexican musicians, traditional folkloric dancing, authentic foods, a cultural marketplace, a free soccer clinic for kids 6-12 years old, the McDonald’s Kid Zone, the Coca-Cola Fun Zone, and games for the whole family!
Ok, here’s my ‘award winning (I wish) Margarita recipe:
Fill blender with ice
Add 1 10 oz. can of Minute Maid Lime Aid
Use above can to measure 1 can of Tequila, and one can of beer (Lite beer works best!)
Rim glasses with lime juice, add salt and serve!
Enjoy – and Happy Cinco de Mayo!
