(CBS Radio) — There’s a new gum product on the market that you may not want your tweens or teens purchasing!
Yesterday, Wrigley announced the launch of their newest product: “Alert Energy Caffeine Gum.“
While Wrigley’s caffeinated gum is marketed to adults and not kids, it’s quite plausible that the gum could still accidentally end up in their hands.
The concept behind Alert Energy Caffeine Gum is to “offer adults a portable solution that lets them control their caffeine intake.”

According to Wrigley, chewing one piece of Alert Energy is equivalent to drinking half a cup of coffee.
Caffeine consumption amongst children can cause them to feel jittery and/or nervous. They can also experience headaches, an increased heart rate, and they may have difficulty sleeping.
If you are a parent, make sure you warn your children about this product, and remind them that caffeine is not healthy for kids.
