(CBS Radio) — Many moms turn to social media sites for mommy craft ideas, parenting advice, and everything in between.
But, while on sites such as Pinterest or Facebook, do you ever stop and wonder, how do these moms create amazingly perfect hand-made birthday invitations, decorations, and edible treats? Where do they find the time, and how do they make it look so effortless? Furthermore, do you feel stressed out when you look at pictures that highlight another moms creativity? Does it make you feel inadequate as a mother?
If so, you’re not alone. A recent poll conducted by NBC reveals that 42 percent of the 7,000 women that were surveyed admit that they feel stressed out while looking at pictures on Pinterest, and that they doubted their own craftiness and creativity.

Many moms today are under increased pressure to create the picture-perfect party, and the picture-perfect everything — but what about their children?
Do children really care if their birthday cake is perfect, or if their mom buys birthday invitations or makes them by hand?
In truth, not really. At the end of the day, kids just want to have fun, be care-free, and feel loved. When they are adults, they won’t remember how many hours it took you to plan the perfect birthday party, but they will remember the time you took out of your day to read them a story, cuddle with them, and the times you made them feel special.
So to all you moms out there who feel stressed out by other moms who make everything look picture-perfect, don’t let it get to you. Every mom is different, and no mom is perfect. Just do the best you can as a mother, and don’t worry if the birthday cake you bake doesn’t get a lot of attention on social media sites. As long as your child likes it, that’s all that matters.
